America’s Best And Worst Fast Food Chain

I’ve always been and maybe will always be a fast food fan. I like them because of several reasons.

1. They are everywhere. If you are traveling a lot, then it’s good to locate the nearest McDonald, KFC, or Burger King. I always do this whenever I’m on the road. One thing I can be sure about them is that they will be present in the main roads and most likely to visit spots in the cities that I’ve visited or will be visiting.

2. Price is reasonable. These fast food chains offer reasonable price for a meal, which sometimes could be the cheapest in the area you are at. The price fluctuation is not that much if you are in the same region; i.e. a Big Mac menu in Amsterdam and Paris would be around 5-6 euros.

3. They have standardized taste. I hate the situation when you are about to order a food at a restaurant, recognize a certain kind of food, remember how good it was, ordered it, and it tasted completely different and awful than the one that you remembered. Fast food chains have the same taste everywhere. Maybe they will modify some menus according to local taste, but a KFC Crispy Chicken menu in Hamburg will have the same taste as Jakarta’s.

4. Their restaurants always have toilets. If you are traveling and you want to take a number one or two, you can always be sure that they will have toilets (and they are everywhere).  Sometimes it cost cheaper than the ones outside.

Well, Eat This, Not That! launched an investigation and put 66 major chain restaurants under the nutritional microscope—and calculated the total number of calories per entrée. This gave us a snapshot of how each restaurant compared in average serving size—a key indicator of unhealthy portion distortion.

Here are the list of America’s 10 best and 15 unhealthiest fast food chain.

Best:

1. Chick-fil-A: A-

2. Subway: A- (I always know it! Subway is my fav!)

A menu based on lean protein and vegetables is always going to score well in our book. With more than half a dozen sandwiches under 300 calories, plus a slew of soups and healthy sides to boot, Subway can satisfy even the pickiest eater without breaking the caloric bank.

3. Jamba Juice: A-

4. Au Bon Pain: A-

5. Boston Market: B+

6. Cici’s Pizza Buffet: B+

7. McDonald’s: B+ (This is a relieve hahaha)

The Egg McMuffin remains one of the best ways to start your day in the fast-food world. As for the later hours, you can splurge on a Big Mac or a Quarter Pounder, but only if you skip the fries and soda, which add an average of 590 calories onto any meal.

8. Taco Bell: B+

Grilled Stuft Burritos, anything served in a bowl, and anything prepared with multiple “layers” are your worst options. Instead, order any combination of two of the following: crunchy tacos, bean burritos, or anything on the Fresco menu.

9. Wendy’s: B+ (Love Wendys, but they are surprisingly difficult to find)

Choose the chicken or a small burger and pair it with a healthy side, and then hit the door before you receive the 500-calorie penalty for giving in to your Frosty hankering.

And here are the list of the worst!

1. Baskin-Robbins: D+

They have the worst food in America which is

Baskin Robbins Large Chocolate Oreo Shake
2,600 calories
135 g fat (59 g saturated fat, 2.5 g trans fats)
263 g sugars
1,700 mg sodium

2. Carl’s Jr.: D+

3. Denny’s: D+

4. Dairy Queen: D+

5. Ruby Tuesday: D+

6. Chili’s: D

7. Uno Chicago Grill: D

8. Chevy’s: D

9. On the Border: D-

10. Romano’s Macaroni Grill: D-

11. Baja Fresh: D-

12. Applebee’s, 13. IHOP, 14. Outback, 15. T.G.I. Friday’s: F

These titans of the restaurant industry are among the last national chains that don’t offer nutritional information on their dishes. Even after years of badgering their representatives, we still hear the same old excuses: It’s too pricey, it’s too time-consuming, it’s impossible to do accurately because their food is so fresh, or we have too much variety. Our response is simple: If nearly every other chain restaurant in the country can do it, then why can’t they?
