This song was written by Paul Gilbert, guitarist of Mr Big – who I think is truly one of the guitar maestros out there. The song catches my attention when I was looking for Marco Minnemman drumming videos on Youtube, and apparently he was collaborating with Paul in the Space Ship Live DVD, where they recorded their live performance with a space suit on them. This song is light, full, and mostly I like the chord progression during the chorus, which shows the typical characteristic of a Japanese cartoon song.
In one of his interview about the song he said, “I was studying Japanese in L.A. and I started writing melodies to help me remember new phrases. “Boku No Atama” means “My head”. The song is very simple. The first verse tranlates to “My head is made out of tomatoes. But I like tomatoes more than eggplant.”
So basically, this song does not really mean anything important, but the catchy tune really makes it worth listening to! It’s a Paul Gilbert song man!
