Virtual Quarrel

virtual-reality-helmut.jpg‘            Blog booming has been amazing lately. There are a lot of people who have their own blog. Some are really good writers and some just write it as if it is their diary. Whether they are aware of what blog means or not, their private life has been shared to general public. Some tried to cover up their experience by using other names and places. Some tried to write it in rhetorical phrases. Some would just be blunt about it. Sometimes by reading their blog, we feel like we know them already from their stories.

‘            There are some reasons why people do public diary. One of the reasons is because they expect others to read it, especially those who had encounters with them and those who they want to share their feelings with. These people have the idea that they can deliver their private messages through public space. Sometimes they use eloquent sentences that that only the person who they address their writing to can understand what they mean. Well, the other reason is that they just love to write (like my sister! Good for you sis!). However, the first reason of why people write a blog would be the basis for my following argument.

‘            For those who write their blog with the intention of sending out a message to someone or specific case might do it because they don’t feel comfortable saying it directly. They feel that it might be safer to write it on their blog, giving hidden messages, but can still escape the accusation of people who are offended by arguing that it is only a personal note. Thus, writing personal note on your personal blog with a specific person to address might give you more chance and freedom to express yourself.

‘            However, this has created a new way for people, couples, or even for complete strangers to quarrel, debate, or even heavily insulting each other. A really good friend of mine is a very good observer of other people’s friendster, facebook, and blog profiles. One of the reasons why she is doing that is because she has too much spare time in the office hahahhaa! I think she has became a professional facebook and friendster profile analyzer. Seriously, I think there should be some companies who are willing to put this kind of work in their payroll, i.e. the marketing companies. Anyways, she is not the topic of this thread. She told me about her findings on some profiles that amazed her. She explained that some people actually got into fight through comments on facebook and friendster. Some would put their insulting comment on their shoutbox on those sites or their messenger. She told me about a profile that got into a virtual fight because of an opinion that the person put on his blog. Some would even write it down clearly on their blog, and some would reply by giving comments. She even told me about a friend of her who got divorced because of friendster. Imagine that!

‘            There are some upsides and downsides of this new way of quarrel and debate. The positive feature of this debate is you can have more time to think about what you are going to say as you write it down, so you are supposed to be wiser in your saying. You are also safe from physical contact. You can get people to choose side because of your persuasive writing. And as I said earlier, you can  always say that it is not meant for other people. There are quite a few advantages of this new method. Well the thing is it also has downsides. The downsides that I could mention here are: that the whole world could read your problem and quarrel. You don’t get the opportunity to finish your problem in the right manner. You will have a written prove about your feelings which could be used against you. These are the downsides.

‘             The reason I’m writing this thread is because I hope that you, my friends and readers, would notice this new style of fighting. I would say that it is not the best way of expressing your feelings towards the other person, except that you want the whole world to know that you are having an argument with your girlfriend about her dress, or about your boyfriend cheating on you, etc. If you have to write it down, you can make it a personal note for yourself, or at least please use rhetorical language. And if you want to write it, please make sure that it will give new insights for your readers. Anyways, if you still think that it is good to inform your feeling to the whole world, then some people, like my good friend I told you about earlier would be happy to read, analyze, discuss, and gossip about it with her friends hahahaa…
